Taste Washington Wine Month

The 2015 Amavi Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon is a prime example of excellent wine from Washington State.

While I love Texas wines and have written about several wineries in the Austin area for The Austinot, I recently decided to sample a bottle of 2015 Amavi Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon from Walla Walla Valley in honor of Taste Washington Wine Month.

About Taste Washington Wine Month

Walla Walla Valley came to Texas for Taste Washington Wine Month.

The campaign is being led by the government-run agency, Washington State Wine. The organization’s marketing efforts are encouraging people everywhere to try wine grown and produced in Washington State referring to the Northern region as the new epicenter of wine.

“Washington State has great wines for every palate, at every price point,”

Steve Warner, President of Washington State Wine

Amavi Cellars Wine & Vineyard

Notes of Black cherry, caramel, and lemon make this wine easy to sip.

I chose to enjoy this particular Cabernet Sauvignon on a chilly day while lounging in Zilker Park and simultaneously attempting to enjoy the suns rays after several days of rain. I was delighted by the wine’s black cherry and caramel notes. Each bright sip went down gently and warmed me so much that I could have sworn it was spring!

Amavi Cellars opened their first tasting room in 2003, although their current location opened in 2010. The vineyard is 100% estate, sustainable, and salmon safe. The vineyard also boasts “sweeping decks” in case you ever find yourself in the area. But, if you don’t have big plans to visit Walla Walla in person, you can always buy Amavi cellar’s wine online and enjoy it in Austin or wherever you call home.
