I’ve sailed on Royal Caribbean about 5 times and recently tried The Key on my last cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of The Seas. In this blog, I’m going to give you my honest review of whether I think it’s worth the money or a total waste.
What is Royal Caribbean’s The Key?
The Key is a VIP cruise package offered by Royal Caribbean that provides cruisers with exclusive benefits and amenities during their cruise. It’s designed to enhance the overall cruise experience and offer personalized service.
How Much Does The Key Cost?
The Key program’s price varies depending on the ship and sailing. Generally, you’ll pay between $20 and $45 per person per day, and the program must be purchased for the entire cruise.
Aboard The Adventure of The Seas, I paid:
- $413.84 for two people for 8 nights.
- The original price was $463.84 which was 25% off and I had an onboard credit of $50.
- The discounted price works out to roughly $26 per day per person.

Is The Key Worth It?
🔑Overall I think The Key is worth the money if you don’t pay full price and pay only a few more dollars for it than regular internet each day.
🔑 I also think it’s worth it if you have many ports requiring tendering.
🔑 You may also like the key if getting on the ship early is important to you. We were originally scheduled to get on board around 2 pm and were able to arrive at 10:30 am. So, by our original boarding time we had already had a nice lunch, walked around the ship, mustered, and settled into our room. For me, it was like having an additional sea day and we got to try the specialty dining experience which was a first for me.
