If you’re like me, you enjoy being out and about at night, but not necessarily at bars and clubs. The great news is, South Florida offers multiple options for those who crave a different kind of nightlife.
Whether it’s water, boat, or unique land adventures you seek, I’ve rounded up the best things to do in South Florida when the sun sets.
The Best Nighttime Tours, Boat Rides, and Water Activities in South Florida
Night Snorkel at Blue Heron Bridge in Riviera Beach
Phil Foster Park, located under the famous Blue Heron Bridge in West Palm Beach County, is well-known for spectacular snorkeling during the day along the man-made snorkel trail.
But did you know that those same spectacular Caribbean blue waters can be snorkeled at night? It’s a little eerie, but 100% magical. The ocean is just as alive at night as during the day. I’ve spotted moon jellies, eels, turtles, and a variety of fish species.
Night snorkeling is offered on specific days of the year with an E-force waiver and parking permit. Simply fill out their online waiver, go by and get your parking pass, enjoy your snorkel, and be out of the park by 10 pm.
Night snorkeling is a great way to see the beauty of South Florida and break up the daytime monotony.

See the Bioluminescence in Titusville
Florida is a year-round hot spot for glowing blue algae known as bioluminescence. Seeing the glow is best done on a night under a new moon, and it is 100% as magical as it sounds.
There are several ways you can see the bioluminescence, either on your own or with a tour group such as BK Adventure Tours. Seeing the bioluminescence not once but twice was my absolute favorite Florida nighttime activity. Check out my Titusville Food & Travel Guide for full details (coming soon).
Sail Aboard The Lady Atlantic in Delray Beach
I was pleasantly surprised when Delray Yacht Cruises invited me out for their Christmas sunset cruise last December (2025). I had been on one of their sunset cruises the previous summer and enjoyed it, but I must say, seeing the holiday lights from the bow of The Lady Atlantic was quite a festive treat!
Whether you’re looking to sail during the holidays or any other time of year, The Lady Atlantic is the perfect way to enjoy an evening in South Florida.
Take a Ride on the Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi
No boat? No problem! The Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi is a nighttime experience 100% worth the money! For under $40, you can experience the beauty of Hillsboro, Pompano, Fort Lauderdale, and Hollywood, Florida at night. If you’re lucky, your captain will get up close to the lighthouse for a spectacular historic view!
I’m not ashamed to admit that the Water Taxi is kind of a guilty nighttime pleasure of mine. I’ve taken it several times in the evening when I wanted to get out of the house by myself safely.
My favorite route is the Pompano route that sails by the majestic Hillsboro Lighthouse and the route from Fort Lauderdale to Margaritaville in Hollywood, Florida. There’s just something special and relaxing about sailing the intercoastal at night with the wind in your hair and the moon above.
And I almost forgot to mention that The Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi is hop-on, hop-off, so you can explore numerous points of interest along the intercoastal including shops, parks, and restaurants, as you wish!

Take a US Ghost Adventures Tour in Fort Lauderdale or Miami
If you’re looking for something fun and unexpected to do at night, try a nighttime walking tour with US Ghost Adventures. The company invited me to do the one along Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale and learned the spooky stories hiding behind Fort Lauderdale’s historic buildings.

Full Moon Paddle Board & Kayaking in South Florida
Enjoy the full moon from the water by joining a full moon paddleboarding tour, meetup, or self-launching at one of the many public boat ramps in South Florida.
Since I bought my own board, paddleboarding every full moon has quickly become one of my favorite monthly activities. The water is often calmer and the temperatures lower, so you can enjoy the sights of the Florida outdoors without baking in the sun or dodging boat traffic.

Take an Evening Walk in Fairchild Garden in Miami
Fairchild hosts several seasonal events and opportunities to be outside at night in the garden throughout the year. One of my absolute favorites is the Night Garden Experience held in November and December.
In the fall, Fairchild Tropical Garden transforms from the typical botanical destination to a vibrant, electric place straight out of a fantasy novel. Visitors can enjoy several light exhibits throughout the garden’s 83 acres while surrounded by lush greenery and darkness.
Another beloved Fairchild evening event of mine is the Garden of the Shadows Halloween event. At nightfall, visitors 21 and up can solve clues to find hidden bars, while underage visitors can take in the spooky sights and sounds of the holiday season.
Both these events and others are a great excuse to get out at night and rack up some steps in nature!
